Objective To investigate the clinical effect of 980/1 470 nm dual-wavelength laser transurethral prostatectomy in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP). Methods A total of 210 patients with BHP were treated with 980/1 470nm dual-wavelength laser transurethral prostatectomy. Operations were observed and the patients were followed up for 1 to 12 months. Maximum flow rate, bladder urine residue, International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS) and the life quality score were detected preoperatively and at the end of 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months postoperatively. Results Mean operation time was (58.12±21.25) min. Laser irradiation time was (25.80±8.96) min, and mean bleeding volume was (45.22±17.13) mL during operation. No case received blood transfusion or suprapubic puncture cystostomy. the mean time of postoperative indwelling catheter after operation was (48.82±17.04) h. The mean hospital stay was (3.01±1.72) d. arduous, frequent and urgent micturition were relieved gradually 1 month after operation. Maximum flow rate, bladder urine residue, International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS) and life quality score at the end of 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after operation were better than before (P<0.01). Conclusion 980/1 470 nm dual-wavelength laser transurethral prostatectomy, which has the advantages of high safety, little damage, few complications, etc, is worth promoting the use in clinic .
