The study on association of TNF-α-238G/A gene polymorphisms in patients with oral lichen planus

Abstract: Objective To explore the correlation between single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPS) of tumor necrosis factor alpha-238-G/A (TNF-α-238-G/A) and the oral lichen planus(OLP). Methods A total of 112 cases of TNF α-238G/A gene SNPS from OLP patients(OLP group), as well as 110 cases from normal participants (control group), was screened by PCR-RELP. Results Phenotype frequency of TNF alpha-238-G/G, G/A and A/A in OLP group were 0.830, 0.152 and 0.018, respectively; and were 0.964, 0.038 and 0.000 in control group. Allele frequency of TNF alpha-238 G and TNF alpha-238-a in OLP group were 0.906 and 0.094 respectively, and were 0.982 and 0.018 in control group. There were significant differences in frequency of TNF-α-238-G/A between two groups (P<0.01). Conclusion TNF-α-238-G/A polymorphism is potentially correlated with OLP.
