Application of reconstructive fixation with plastic splint in treatment of supracondylar fracture of humerus in children

Abstract: Objective To Observe the effects of reconstructive plastic splint fixation in treatment of supracondylar fracture of humerus in children. Methods A total of 70 patients were randomly divided into treatment group (n=35) and control group (n=35), with treatment of reconstructive plastic splint fixation and crossed-pin interior fixation, respectively. Clinical effects were observed 4 weeks after, and incidence of cubitus varus was recorded during 1 year follow-up. Results Recovery rate was 94.28% in treatment group and 77.14% in control group, with a significant difference (P<0.05). Incidence of cubitus varus was 22.86% in treatment group and 42.85% in control group. Conclusion Reconstructive plastic splint fixation is effective in the treatment of supracondylar fracture of humerus in children.
