Abstract: To investigate the correlation between polymorphisms of both +299G/A at resistin gene and Pro12Ala at PPARγ2 gene and diabetic macro-angiopathy. MethodGenotypes and alleles of polymorphisms of both genes were determined with polymerase chain reactionrestriction fragment length polymorphism assay (PCRRFLP) of 296 subjects in Han Chinese. Results Both resistin gene +299G/A alleles frequencies in group A (the type 2 diabetes group) and alleles frequencies and genotypes in group B(the type 2 diabetes combined with the macroangiopathy group) were statistically significant from those in the control group(P<0.05), but P/A alleles frequencies and genotypes to of the PPARγ2 gene were statistically different in groups A (P>0.05 vs the control group) and were statistically different in group B (P<0.05 vs the control and the A group). Type 2 diabetes with the coexistence of the A allele/AA genotype of resistin gene and the A allele/PA genotype of the PPARγ2 gene had a lower incidence of macro-angiopathy than those with one gene alone or without the gene(P<0.05). ConclusionThe A allele/AA genotype at resistin gene of +299 and the Ala allele at the PPARγ2 gene of Pro12Ala are related to diabetic macroangiopathy.
