Correlation between chemosensitivity and prognosis andabnormal expression of cyclin D1 and p27 in

Abstract: To prognose the chemosensitivity and the survival in terms of the expression levels of cyclin D1 and p27 protein in nonsmall cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Method: Enhanced immunohistochemical staining(SP) technique was used to detect the expression of cyclin D1 and p27 protein in 37 cases of primary NSCLC specimens paraffinembedded. Results:Of the 37 NSCLC cases, positive cyclin D1 was found in 21(56.76%), and there were significant correlation between response to chemotherapy, survival and the expression of cyclin D1(P<0.05). The positive expression rate of p27 protein was 32.43%(12/37), and there were no significant relationship between the expression of p27 and response to chemotherapy(P>0.05). The expression of p27 was significantly associated with the survival of NSCLC. Multivariate analysis showed that cyclin D1 was a good prognostic factor in NSCLC. Conclusion: Expression of cyclin D1 may be a good prognostic factor for chemosensitivity and survival in NSCLC. Furthermore, the expression of p27 may play a prognostic role in NSCLC.
