Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery in gynecology: advantages, complications and challenges

Abstract: Laparoscopic surgery is preferred for many gynecologic procedures. Compared with open surgery, minimally invasive surgery reduces morbidity, shortens hospital stay and improves recovery. Recently, laparoendoscopic single-site surgery(LESS)has drawn the attention of gynecologists because it can complete laparoscopic operations via small skin incision and thus achieve the goal of “few scars” or “no scar”. This paper reviews the advantages, complications, key surgical points and strategies of LESS.
