Abstract:

To investigate risk factors of intracranial infection after craniotomy. MethodsA casecontrol study was carried out and a chisquare test and logistic regression were used to analyze the relationship between the factors and intracranial infection. ResultsThere were significant links between emergent operation, postoperative drainage tubes, duration of operation time, posterior fossa surgery, cerebrospinal fluid leakage, wound fluid and intracranial infection after craniotomy (P<0.05). There were no significant links between gender, age, use of antibiotics before surgery and intracranial infection after craniotomy. ConclusionEmergent operation, postoperative drainage tubes, duration of operation time, posterior fossa surgery, cerebrospinal fluid leakage and wound fluid are risk factors of intracranial infection after craniotomy.
