Consideration about cluster epidemic of 37 COVID-19 cases

Abstract: Objective To summarize the cluster epidemic characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in Jinan City in order to provide reference for further preventive measures. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on the demography, exposure history of risk factors, transmission capacity, medical services and clinical symptoms of 37 COVID-19 cases confirmed during Jan. 24 and Feb. 11, 2020. Results There were 9 cluster outbreaks in Jinan City. Among the initial cases, 8 had exposure history of Wuhan City. The median incubation period was 9 days and the median number of infection was 3. The main contact mode was living together. Most cases were common type. So far 25 patients were cured and discharged. Conclusion The SARS-CoV-2 is highly infectious. The clusters of COVID-19 in Jinan City are mainly caused by close contact. Comprehensive measures are recommended to control the spread of the epidemic.
