Application of predictive nursing intervention on patients with cranial defects combined hydrocephalus in homochronous operation

Abstract: Objective To investigate the application of predictive nursing intervention on patients with cranial defects combined hydrocephalus in period of homochronous operation. Methods A total of 64 patents with cranial defects combined hydrocephalus were randomly divided into study group (n=32) and control group (n=32). All patients received therapy of decompressing craniectomy and ventriculo-peritoneal shunt. The control group was given regular nursing care while the study group was given predictive nursing intervention. The complication, costs, length of stay and nursing satisfaction rate were compared between two groups. Results compared to the control group, the study group achieved lower incidence of complication (P<0.05), lower costs (P<0.05), shorter length of stay (P<0.05) and higher satisfaction rate (P<0.05). Conclusion Predictive nursing intervention can reduce the risk of complication and improve the nursing quality in patients with cranial defects combined hydrocephalus.
