Epidemiological survey of sleep-disordered school children in the Jinan district

Abstract: AbstractObjectiveTo explore the prevalence of sleep disorder in school children in the Jinan district. MethodsDuring October 2006 to September 2007, 1995 children aged 7 to 12 were selected by random and investigated by giving questionnaires to their parents. Result1596 efficient questionnaires were used for analysis, 762 (47.7％) of them never snore, 488(30.6％) occasionally snore (1 or 2 nights per month), 282 (17.7％) snore 1 or 2 nights per week, 64 (4.0％) snore every night, and 31(1.9％) was found with apnea. The relevant dangerous factors included bad nose respiration, male gender and parent who snore. The relevant dangerous factors of apnea include snore, bad nose respiration and tonsillitis. ConclusionSleep disorders of children in the Jinan distract should draw the attention of parents and doctors.
