Abstract:

To explore the spatiotemporal clustering of tuberculosis in Qingdao. MethodSpacetime permutation scan statistics was used to analyze tuberculosis reporting data of Qingdao, Shandong Province from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2007 by SaTScan v8.0 software. ResultsFive statistically significant tuberculosis clusters were identified: from October 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 around Dongpang of Rizhuang town in Laixi city (P=0.001), from January 1, 2007 to June 30, 2007 around Wen'an road of Yong'an office in Licang area (P=0.006), from March 1, 2006 to March 31, 2006 around Wangjiazhuang of Cuijiaji town in Pingdu city (P=0.016), from July 1, 2007 to August 31, 2007 around Houjiatun of Pudong town in Jimo city (P=0.041), and from April 1, 2006 to April 30, 2006 around Dashiling of Dacun town in Jiaonan city (P=0.066). ConclusionSpacetime permutation scan statistics are effective for evaluating the cluster of disease in a spatial epidemiological study, and provide statistical evidence for clarifying the spatiotemporal clustering of tuberculosis and effectively preventing and controlling tuberculosis.
