Effects of Aspart 30 for new type 2 diabetes

Abstract:

Objective  To observe changes in Pancreatic β-cells in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients after intensive treatments with short term insulin Aspart 30. Method  55 patients, who were newly diagnosed as type 2 diabetics, were  treated by 3  hypodermic injections with Aspart 30 per day. After two weeks intensive treatments, the levels of  TC (total cholesterin), triglyceride(TG),fasting plasma glucose( FPG),2 hours postprandial glucose(2hPG), insulin, C-peptide, the mean area under the curve of insulin and C-peptide, insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR ), and insulin secretion index (HOMA-B) were compared before and after the treatments. Results  After short term intensive treatments,the levels of FPG and 2hPG were significantly decreased(P<0.01). The levels of insulin, C-peptide, and HOMA-B, and the mean area under the curves of insulin and C-peptide were significantly increased(P<0.01) after the treatments. However, the level of HOMA-IR was significantly decreased (P<0.05) after the treatments. But there were no remarkable changes in TC and TG before and after the treatments. Conclusion  Short term intensive insulin treatment by Aspart 30 can effectively reduce the level of plasma glucose, improves the β-cell function and releases the insulin resistance.
