Abstract:

Objective   To check the psychometric properties of GHQ-28 in college students. Methods   Three questionnaires, GHQ-28, SAS, and SDS, were used to assess 248 college students. Then the item-analysis was used to analyze each item of the GHQ-28,  the Cronbach′s α of the GHQ-28 was checked,  factor analysis was used to check the structure validity of the GHQ-28 and the SAS and SDS was applied to check the criterion validity of the GHQ-28. Results    The correlations between each item of the GHQ-28 and its scales were positive (P<0.01). The reliabilities of the whole scale and the part scales were 0.872, 0.767, 0.667, 0.756 and 0.700. The GHQ28 contains four factors, and the aberration rate of them was 48.381% of the total. The GHQ-28 factors′ levels of students with high scores in SAS were higher than those low in SAS, as well as in SDS (P<0.001). The correlations of the GHQ-28 and SAS, SDS were 0.707 and 0.749. Conclusion    The GHQ-28 has good reliability and validity when it measures the general mental health of college students.
