Abstract:

Objective  To discuss the therapeutic effect of high dose methylprednisolone impaction in the treatment of severe hand-foot-mouth disease.  Methods  According to whether high dose methylprednisolone was used, severe hand-foot-mouth disease cases were divided into 2 groups: the hormone impaction group and the non-hormone impaction group. Clinical information was compared and analyzed for each group. Results  The febrile duration, CNS involvement duration, time of staying in hospital, blood pressure, and recovery rate in 2 groups were not signinficantly different(P>0.05).  But, in the hormone impaction group, the heart rate, breathing rate, and serum glucose were much higher than in the non-hormone impaction group,  which demonstrated a significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusion  High dose methylprednisolone impaction in the treatment of severe hand-foot-mouth disease could not shorten the course and improves prognosis. This study did not support the efficiency of high dose methylprednisolone impaction in the treatment of severe hand-foot-mouth disease.
