Abstract:

Objective  To explore the curative effect and the reliability of Sertraline for adjuvant treatment of teenagers′ bronchial asthma accompanied by depression. Methods  A total of 77 patients meeting the inclusion standards were randomly divided into the treatment group (n=40) and the control group (n=37). Sertraline was added into the routine anti-depression and anti-asthmatic treatment in the treatment group, while a placebo was added in the control group. Then the curative and side effects in the all patients were assessed at the end of the 6th and 12th weeks after the initiation of the study. Results  The total effective rate of anti-depression and anti-bronchial asthma in the treatment group was 75.0% and 95.0% respectively, and compared with 37.8% and 72.9% in the control group after3 months of the initiation of the study, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The side effects in the two groups were slight, and the incidences of all the factors in SERS(rating scale or side effects) between the twogroups had no significant differences (P>0.05). Conclusion  Sertraline is effective and safe in adjuvant treatment of teenagers′ bronchial asthma accompanied by depression.
