Abstract:

To investigate the relationship between salt intake and salt acuity in the peritoneal dialysis patients.  MethodsThe dialysis effluent and urine of 45 peritoneal dialysis patients in the peritoneal dialysis center in Peking University Third Hospital and Department of Nephrology and Qilu Hospital of Shandong University between March 2008 to August 2008 were examined. Their dietary records were asked. According to their quality of salt discharge and blood pressure, they were divided into the highsalt intake group and the lowsalt intake group. Sodium acuity was evaluated.  ResultsThere was no difference of the demographic data between the two groups(P>0.05). But, the salt acuity of peritoneal dialysis patients who took more salt was significantly lower than that of patients who took less salt(P<0.05). ConclusionThe total salt intake in patients of peritoneal dialysis is closely related to their salt acuity.
