Community structure and niche characteristics of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome host rats in a small environment

Abstract: To analyze the community structure and niche characteristics of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) host rats. MethodsFive indexes, ShannonWeaner diversity value, Pielou uniformity value, dominance value, Levins niche width value and Petraitis niche overlap value were calculated to describe the community structure and niche characteristics of the HFRS host rats in the experimental districts. Results① The community structure of host rats was different in the experimental districts. The ShannonWeaner diversity value was lower in the first experimental district than in the second (P<005), whereas the Pielou uniformity value and dominance value had no statistical significances(P>005). ② Both the temporal niche breadth and the spatial niche breadth of Rattus norvegicus and Mus musculus were high, and their time niche overlap index and spatial niche overlap index were the highest, and others also had the ability to adapt to the environment. ConclusionThe ecological environment influences community structure of host rats in an experimental district. Rattus norvegicus and Mus musculus are the major species and they dominates both in temporal niche and in spatial niche.
