Association of single nucleotide polymorphism of the C1040T gene encoding TAFI with myocardial infarction

Abstract: Objective To explore the association between encoding gene CPB2 polymorphism of thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor(TAFI)and myocardial infarction. MethodsPCRRFLP (Restriction fragment length polymorphism) method was used to determine the CPB2 gene polymorphism in patients with myocardial infarction(n=100) and healthy controls(n=90). ResultsThe CPB2 genotyping(Thr/Thr,Thr/Ile and Ile/Ile) frequencies were 32(32%),53(53%)and 15(15%)in the MI group and 31(34.4%),49(54.4%),10(11.2%)in the control group, and the allelic frequencies(C and T)were 117(58.5%)and 83(41.5%) in the MI group and 111(61.7%)and 69(38.3%)in the control group. χ2 analysis showed nonsignificant differences in the Thr325Ile polymorphism distributions(χ2=0.6482,P=0.7232;χ2=0.3958,P=0.5292);genotype and alleles distribution frequencies were in accordance with the HardyWeinberg equilibrium. ConclusionThe polymorphisms of TAFI gene are not related to myocardial infarction.
