Relationship amoung Chinese serum apolipoprotein A-IV level,obesity and lepin level

Abstract: Objective: To study the relationship among serum apolipoprotein A-IV (apoA-IV) concentration, obesity and leptin level. Methods: Six hundred and seventeen people from Jinan urban areas and Zibo rural areas were enrolled in this study. After the donor subjects were deprived of food for 24h, 5ml blood was drawn from the donors and was kept for 30h, and then was subjected to 3000r/min centrifugalization for 15 minutes. Then the blood serum was separated, immediately filled separately into eppendorf tubes and kept under the condition of -70℃. The concentration of leptin and apoA-IV was determined. The body weight, BMI, BF%, WHR and several other indexes were measured. Results: ApoA-IV levels were significantly and negatively correlated with body fat concentration, but were not correlated with body fat distribution. Serum apoA-IV levels were not correlated with serum leptin levels. Conclusion: Obese humans have lower serum apoA-IV levels, which are not mainly influenced by leptin.
