Abstract: To investigate the lymphatic microvessel density and expressions of pituitary tumor transforming gene and vascular endothelial growth factor C in nonsmall cell lung cancer(NSCLC),and explore their correlations to clinicopathologic features of NSCLC. Methods:Realtime fluorescence quantitative PCR and immunohistochemistry method were used to detect the expressions of PTTG, VEGFC and LMVD in NSCLC. We also investigated the effects of PTTG and VEGFC on the prognosis of patients with NSCLC by drawing KaplanMeier curves. Results: There were higher expressions of PTTG,VEGFC and LMVD in NSCLC tissues than in adjacent tissues and benign lesions(P<0.05). There were no significant differences between the expressions of PTTG, VEGFC and age, sex, smoking, and size, histological type and differentiation of tumor(P>0.05), but there were statistical relationships between their expressions and TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and prognosis(P<0.05). The KaplanMeier curves showed that patients with low or no expressions of PTTG or VEGFC survivedpositively correlated with VEGFC expression and LMVD. Conclusion: Tumor lymph angiogenesis is enhanced by the overexpression of PTTG and VEGFC; PTTG and VEGFC can be used as two useful markers to judge the biological behavior and the prognosis of lung cancer; VEGFC can be used as a new target of antilymphatic therapy for lung cancer.
