Epidemiological characteristics of the first COVID-19 case and related family cluster outbreaks in Jinan City

Abstract: Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of the first COVID-19 case and related family cluster outbreaks in Jinan City. Methods With reference to the diagnostic criteria in “COVID-19 Diagnosis and Treatment Plan(trail version 5)”, information of the first COVID-19 case in Jinan City and related cluster outbreaks was collected, and the epidemiological characteristics were analyzed. Results The first COVID-19 case(case 1)had onset on Jan. 16, 2020, and led to a family cluster outbreak of 4 cases(cases 1 to 4). Case 5 took the same flight as case 1 and led to another family cluster outbreak of 3 cases(cases 5 to 7). Case 8 was a colleague of case 5 and led to the third family cluster of 3 cases(cases 8 to 10). Conclusion Family cluster is a common way of COVID-19 transmission. Personal protection is important for the control of family cluster outbreaks.
