Gastric cancer complicated with mild hemophilia and postoperative hemorrhage: a report of one case

Abstract: Objective The purpose of this paper is to explore the perioperative management of gastric cancer complicated with hemophilia. Methods The clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of postoperative hemorrhage in a patient with gastric cancer and mild hemophilia A were retrospectively analyzed, and relevant literatures were reviewed. Results The patients condition was discussed by multi-disciplinary experts. Blood examination revealed decreased activity of coagulation factor Ⅷ and confirmed mild hemophilia A. The patient stopped bleeding after transfusion of recombinant coagulation factor Ⅷ. Conclusion For gastric cancer patients complicated with hemophilia, alternative therapy is very important. The first choice is recombinant FⅧ, and duration of alternative therapy should be appropriately prolonged according to the type of operation and degree of injury. Patients should be registered in the hemophilia center for long-term follow-up.
