Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of nano titanium dioxide(nano-TiO2)combined with Cu2+ on the developmental toxicity of zebrafish embryos. Methods AB-line zebrafish was used for the animal model, the developmental toxicity of zebrafish embryos was evaluated by the hatching rate at 72 hours post fertilization(hpf), mortality rate at 96 hpf, and malformation rate at 120 hpf. Results Cu2+(0.12 - 4 mg/L)showed strong toxic effect on zebrafish embryos, while nano-TiO2(0 - 200 mg/L)had no significant toxic effect on zebrafish embryos. The zebrafish embryos exposed to nano-TiO2 and Cu2+ showed a degree of developmental toxicity, while the corresponding mortality rate and malformation rate were decreased and hatching rate was increased compared with those exposed to Cu2+. Conclusion Compared with Cu2+, the combination of nano-TiO2 and Cu2+ shows lower development toxicity on zebrafish embryos.
