Abstract: o analyze the clinical features and surgical role of lowgrade gliomas of mesial temporal lobe. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 39 patients with low grade temporomedial gliomas ranged from 7 to 61 (mean 41.5) years. All were grade II gliomas according to World Health Organisation (WHO), and of them, 27 were astrocytomas, 6 oligodendrogliomas, 6 mixed oligoastrocytomas, and 2 gangliogliomas; and of them, 26 presented temporal epilepsy. All were performed aggressive tumor resections, and 30 of them were treated with radiotherapy after operation. Results： No operative mortality occurred. Thirtyone patients were followed up from 3 months to 4 years, of whom epileptic attacks disappeared in 13, improved in 8, and relapse was found in 2. Conclusion: Aggressive resection has salutary effect for low grade temporal medial gliomas.
