Abstract: To explore the effect of Manganese Chloride (MnCl2) on PC12 cells. Methods: The model that MnCl2 acted on PC12 cells was generated. The effect of MnCl2 on the survival of PC12 cells was analyzed by using MTT analysis. The quantity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in culture medium, the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), the expression of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the malondialdehyde (MDA) in cells were examined by the spectrophotometer technique. Results: MnCl2 triggered PC12 cells death in a dose and timedependent manner. The survival rate of the cell descended. The quantity of LDH, MDA, and the production of ROS increasd, whereas the level of SOD decreased significantly in PC12 cells. Conclusion: MnCl2 can induce PC12 cell injury.
