Abstract: Objective： To observe the movement of rats′ molars at the area of defective alveolar bone filled with Perioglas and Hydroxyl poly calcium sodium phosphate (HPPA). Methods： Fortyfour female Wistar rats with alveolar bone defect were randomly divided into two groups: Perioglas and HPPA groups. Orthodontic appliances were fixed to draw the maxillary first molar after 12 weeks. Distances of maxillary first molar movement were measured after 20 weeks. Results： Movement distances of the first molar were not significantly different between the Perioglas group and the normal contralateral group or between the HPPA group and the normal contralateral group(P＞0.05). Conclusion： The rats′ teeth can be moved with orthodontic force at the alveolar bone filled with Perioglas and HPPA, and there were no significant differences of the movement distance of a tooth in the side filled with materials and in the contralateral side.
