Curative effect of domestic Wagner SL prosthesis replacement for Evans Ⅲ intertrochanteric fracture in elderly patients

Abstract: Objective To retrospectively analyze the curative effect of domestic Wagner SL prosthesis replacement in elderly patients with Evans Ⅲ intertrochanteric fracture (IF). Methods A total of 17 elderly patients (6 male and 11 female, age 75~84 years, average 79.8 years) with Evans Ⅲ IF who underwent domestic Wagner SL prosthesis replacement, and another 12 controls (4 male and 8 female, age 77~85 years, average 81.1 years) with Evans Ⅲ IF who received cemented long-stem prosthesis replacement were observed. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative blood loss, postoperative bed time, postoperative function score of the two groups were compared. Results There were no statistical significance between the two groups in terms of age, sex, body mass index and degree of osteoporosis (P >0.05). The operation time and intraoperative blood loss of Wagner SL prosthesis replacement group was significantly less than that of the control group (P <0.05). There was no statistical significance in the volume of drainage, postoperative bed time and Harris hip scores (P >0.05). Conclusion Domestic Wagner SL prosthesis replacement for elderly patients with comminuted intertrochanteric fracture (CIF) has advantages of minimal invasion, rapid recovery, good efficacy and low hospital expenses. Therefore, it is worth of wide clinical application.
