Abstract:

Objective   To explore the effect of psychological intervention in treating and preventing internet addiction of students in grade one of the middle school. Methods   A total of 839 students were divided into the intervention group (n=439) and the control group (n=400) by the method of cluster sampling. The intervention group received psychological intervention but the control group did not. Internet addiction disorder diagnostic scale(IADDS) and symptom checklist 90(SCL-90) were used to evaluate the two groups  pre and post-intervention.Results   There were significant differences between pre-and post-intervention in the total score of IADDS, and in the total score and factors of SCL90(P<0.01) in the intervention group, but no significant differences in the control group (P>0.05). There were no significant differences between the two groups in the total score of IADDS, and in the total score and factors of SCL-90 before psychological intervention(P>0.05),but there were significant differences after psychological intervention(P<0.01). There were significant differences between pre-and post-intervention in the total score of IADDS, and in the total score and  factors of SCL-90 in students suffering from internet addiction disorder(IAD) in the intervention group(P<0.01).
