Expressions of VEGF-C and LYVE-1 in epithelial ovarian neoplasm and their clinical significance

Abstract:

To investigate expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor-C（VEGF-C）and lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronan receptor-1(LYVE-1) and their relationship to the clinico-pathological factors in epithelial ovarian tumors. MethodsThe immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect VEGF-C and LYVE-1 expressions in 61 surgical specimens from patients with epithelial ovarian neoplasm and  their relationship to clinical pathological factors was analyzed. Results①VEGF-C and LYVE- expressions in epithelial ovarian carcinoma were significantly higher than those in borderline -ovarian tumors and ovarian benign tumors(P<0.01); ②VEGF-C and LYVE-1 expressions in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer were obviously related to clinical stage and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05) while notrelated to age, histological grade and histological type(P>0.05). ConclusionVEGF-C plays an important role in lymphatic metastasis of epithelial ovarian tumors.
