Correlation of dipeptidylpeptidase IV enzyme activity  with diabetic nephropathy

Abstract:

Objective  To study the correlation of dipeptidylpeptidase IV (DPPIV) enzyme activity with diabetic nephropathy(DN). Methods  30 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were divided into two groups according to their urinary albumin excretion： the DN1 group(urinary albumin excretion≤300mg/24h）and the DN2 group(urinary albumin excretion＞300mg/24h）， and 10 healthy individuals were selected as controls. ELISA was used to assay DPPIV enzyme activity. Results  The specific activity of DPPIV enzyme was higher in diabetic patients compared with that in the healthy controls. In linear regression models, DPPIV enzyme activity was associated with HbA1c and quantitation of urine protein. Conclusion  The specific activity of DPPIV enzyme may promote the development of DN.
