Abstract:

To determine the serum level of soluble B7H4 in gastric cancer and to explore its clinical significance. MethodUsing the ELISA sandwich method, the serum level of soluble B7H4 was determined in 61 cases of gastric cancer and 51 cases of normal controls, then correlations between soluble B7H4 and pathological types, before and after surgical treatment and other serum markers of gastric cancers were analyzed. ResultsThe serum level of soluble B7H4 in gastric cancer [(49.14±16.16)μg/L]was significantly higher than that in normal people[(32.67±12.28)μg/L], and there was a significant difference (P<0.01). The serum level of soluble B7H4 in poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma [(64.51±20.67)μg/L]was higher than that in well differentiated adenocarcinoma[(36.78±13.39)μg/L], mucinous adenocarcinoma[(42.79±12.31)μg/L] , and signetring cell carcinoma[(44.62±12.27)μg/L], and there were significant differences among them (P<0.05). The serum level of soluble B7H4 in gastric cancer before surgical treatment[(58.09±15.28)μg/L]was higher than that in gastric cancer after surgical treatment[(38.58±9.49)μg/L](P<0.01). The serum level of sB7H4 in gastric cancer was positivelycorrelated with serum levels of CEA and CA199(P<0.01). ConclusionA high level of serum soluble B7H4 in gastric cancer has a positive relationship to pathological types, surgical treatment and other serum markers of gastric cancers, which reveals that soluble B7H4 plays an important role in cancer generation and development.
