Abstract:

Objective   To observe the expression and significance of IgA and CD35 in chronic tonsillitis and IgA-N patients, and to explore the difference of IgA and CD35 expressions in the two kinds of patients′ tonsillae.  Methods   Tonsillar specimens of 37 IgA-N patients and 80 chronic tonsillitis patients were examined by immunohistochemical staining with IgA and CD35. Positive staining cells were counted under the light microscope, and statistical analysis of IgA and CD35  positive staining cells was carried out by t-test. Results   The expressions of IgA and CD35 in IgA-N tonsillae were strongly positive and presented positive correlation. The positive expressions of IgA and CD35 in chronic tonsillitis tonsillae significantly reduced. Conclusion   There were significant differences of IgA and CD35 expressions in chronic tonsillitis and IgA-N patients. The expressions of IgA and CD35 in chronic tonsillitis may be one of the earlier period events, and can be the index for the early diagnosis of IgA-N.
