Effect of chromokinesin KIF4A on gastric carcinoma migration and metastasis

Abstract:

Objective   Based on the previous findings, the expression of chromokinesin KIF4A was lower in gastric carcinoma than in normal gastric tissue, and overexpression of KIF4A in gastric carcinoma cells inhibited their proliferation. This study explored the role of KIF4A in the metastasis of gastric carcinoma, hoping to find a new therapeutic target. Methods   The expression profile of KIF4A in gastric carcinoma tissues was investigated with tissue chip and immunofluorescent staining; the effect of KIF4A depletion on gastric cancer cell migration was detected with siRNA transfection and Transwell assay. Results   A total of 65% (26/40) carcinoma tissue samples showed reduced expression of KIF4A compared with the adjacent lymph node tissues. In addition, the down-regulation of KIF4A was closely related to the clinical pathological stage (TNM staging). Conclusion    Chromokinesin KIF4A plays a negative role of regulation in gastric cancer metastasis.
