Relationship between personality traits and academic procrastination among  medical students

Abstract:

Objective   To investigate the relationship between personality traits and academic procrastination among medical students.  Methods570 students from a university in Shandong Province were randomly selected to complete the China College Student Personality Scale (CCSPS) and Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS).  The data were analyzed with one-way analysis of variance.  Results570 valid questionnaires were obtained. When different study activities were concerned, the personality traits closely related to severe academic procrastination were different. However, attitude towards life, one of the personality traits, was closely related to severe academic procrastination.  Toughness and rigorousness were another two important personality traits that were closely related to academic procrastination. Conclusion    Personality traits are closely related to academic procrastination.
