Abstract:

Objective  To explore the association between microsatellite polymorphism (tttta)4, (tttta)6 and (tttta)8 of gene CYP11a and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods  Electronic search strategy was carried out among the 6 databases from home and abroad to collect qualified research papers according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Case-control studies on association between microsatellite polymorphism (tttta)n of gene CYP11a and susceptibility to PCOS were collected. The combined OR values and their 95%CI were calculated with Review Manager 5.0. Results  A total of 8 eligible studies were included. Statistics of the combined data showed a significant difference between patients with PCOS carrying microsatellite polymorphism (tttta)6 of gene CYP11a and controls. The combined OR(95%CI) was 0.75(0.59-0.95). There was no significant difference between patients with PCOS carrying microsatellite polymorphism (tttta)4 or (tttta)8 of gene CYP11a and controls. The combined OR(95%CI) were 0.89 (0.61-1.30) and 0.84 (0.64-1.11) respectively. Conclusion  The results suggest that microsatellite polymorphism (tttta)n of gene CYP11a may not be a risk factor for PCOS, and (tttta)6 is a protective factor for PCOS.
