Abstract:

To explore the changes of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) concentrations in experimental rats with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in 14h. MethodsTwentyfive Wistar rats were established for models of AMI and 20 shamoperated rats served as the control group.  The myocardium of the two groups was observed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) before and after the experiment. Doubleantibody sandwich enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect serum BNP and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) concentrations 1~4?h before and after the  experiment. ResultsAfter the successful establishment of AMI models 1~4?h, serum BNP concentration was significantly increased compared with that before the experiment and that of the control group (P<0.01 respectively), and serum BNP concentration at 2h after AMI was the highest(520.66±16.85) ng·L-1. The 14?h serum cTnI concentrations did not significantly vary from the values before AMI and those of the control group  (P>0.05). Since the establishment of AMI model 14?h, significantly positive correlations were obtained between serum BNP concentrations and the size of AMI, and the highest correlation occurred at 2h after AMI(r=0.69, P<0.05). No significant differences were noted in serum concentrations of BNP and cTnI in the control group before and after shamoperation (P>0.05). ConclusionBNP can be used as a blood marker for early diagnosis of AMI especially during 14?h after the onset of AMI and can predict the infarct area.
