Changes of TNFα in dental pulp by using distraction 
osteogenesis on orthodontic rapid tooth movement

Abstract:

To observe the changes of TNFα in  dental pulp by using distraction osteogenesis on orthodontic rapid tooth movement. Methods Quantity of TNFαin different stages was detected by ELISA. ResultsThe quantity of TNFαgreatly increased right after four weeks′ distraction force, while it significantly decreased during the first and second week after stopping distraction osteogenesis, and the quantity of TNFαchanged little during day 14 to 28 after stopping distraction osteogenesis, but the TNFαlevel during day 14 to 28 was lower than that of the control group. ConclusionsThe quantity of TNFα could return to the normal level in two weeks after 4 weeks′ distraction force applied to the orthodontic tooth. Day 7 to 14 is the period that the dental pulp  becomes healthy. Orthodontic rapid tooth movement has a slight effect on the dental pulps activity.
