Abstract: To explore the value of DHS for intertrochanteric fractures, especially for reverse obliquity intertrochanteric fractures. Methods: A retrospective study of 102 cases of intertrochanteric fractures treated by DHS was undertaken. Of them, 27 cases were reverse obliquity intertrochanteric fractures. Results: The response rate of general fractures was 81%, of A1 type was 95%, of A2 type was 84%, and of reverse obliquity intertrochanteric fractures was only 48%. Both the response and failure rate were significantly different among the four groups(P<0.01) and (P<0.05). Conclusion: DHS provides satisfying results for most intertrochanteric fractures, but dose not fit reverse obliquity intertrochanteric fractures.
