Impacts of different iodine deliver rates with constant total iodine load on CT images of inferior phrenic artery

Abstract: Objective To explore the impacts of different iodine deliver rate (IDR) with constant total iodine load on CT images of inferior phrenic artery (IPA). Methods A total of 60 patients abdominal CT angiography were randomly divided into 3 groups (20 patients in each group): group A: iodine concentration 300 mgI/mL, injection rate 5 mL/s, IDR 1 500 mgI/s; group B: iodine concentration 350 mgI/mL, injection rate 4.3 mL/s, IDR 1 505 mgI/s; group C: iodine concentration 370 mgI/mL, injection rate 4.3 mL/s, IDR 1 591 mgI/s, and the total iodine load was 350 mgI/kg. The display and image quality of different branches of IPA in each group were recorded. The CT values of the first and second grade of right IPA (RIPA) were measured. Results There was no statistical significance in the image quality of different branches and CT values of RIPA between group A and B (P>0.05). The display of grade three and above branches of IPA and image quality of group C were significantly higher than those of group A and B (P<0.05). The CT values of the first and second grade of RIPA in group C were higher than those in group A and B (P<0.05). Conclusion When the total iodine load is kept constant, the increase of IDR can obviously promote the IPA enhanced degree and image quality, which is conducive to the display of grade three and above branches of IPA.
