Effect of double-lumen-tube or bronchial blocker used for one-lung ventilation on PetCO2 and PaCO2

Abstract: Objective To assess the effect of double-lumen-tube (DLT) and bronchial blocker for one-lung ventilation on partial pressure of end-tidal carbon dioxide (PetCO2) and arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2). Methods Thirty patients were randomly assigned to DLT group (n=15) and BB group (n=15). After anesthesia induction, DLT or BB was intubated into the trachea. After one-lung ventilation, the values of PetCO2 and PaCO2 were recorded and analyzed. Results Compared with BB group, the PetCO2 value was higher, the PaCO2 value was lower, and the correlation between PetCO2 and PaCO2 was better in DLT group. Conclusion Compared with BB, DLT was better at exhalation of CO2.
