Abstract: To study the expressions of p53 in simple intestinal metaplasia(SIM), atypical intestinal metaplasia(AIM)and gastric adenocarcinoma. MethodsThe immunohistochemical EnVision method was used to determine the expressions of p53 in simple intestinal metaplasia(SIM), atypical intestinal metaplasia(AIM)and gastric adenocarcinoma. ResultsThe positive rates of p53 in SIM, AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma was 13.6%, 40.0% and 55.0%. The expression of p53 in AIM was significantly higher than that in SIM. There was no significant differences between AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma. Conclusionp53 may play an important role in intestinal meteplasia and gastric carcinoma.

Key words: Simple intestinal metaplasia, Atypical intestinal metaplasia, Protein p53
