Long-term effect of Xuezhikang on artery elasticity in patients with myocardial infarction

Abstract: To investigate the longterm effect of Xuezhikang(XZK) on artery elasticity in patients with myocardial infarction. Methods Twentyfive patients with myocardial infarction longtermusing XZK were XZK group, and the other 25 patients with myocardial infarction neverusing XZK were no XZK group. 20 healthy people served as the control group. Brachial artery intimamedia thickness（IMT）, mean circumferential wall tension(MCWT), mean blood flow velocity (Vm), mean shear rate (MSR) and flowmediated brachial artery vasoactivity (FMD) were determined by highfrequency ultra sound and pulse wave velocity (PWV) was determined with Japanese Colin. VP-1000 arteriosclerosis diagnometer. ResultsCompared with no XZK group, XZK efficiently decreased the IMT, MCWT and PWV levels and significantly increased the Vm, MSR and FMD levels (P＜0.05). ConclusionsLongterm treatment of XZK can improve the peripheral arterial elasticity and prevents atherosclerosis.
