Abstract: To explore the effects of immunologic intervention on the Th1/Th2 immunologic derangement and relapse gasp in acute bronchiolitis. Methods50 infants less than 6 months with acute bronchiolitis were randomly divided into 2 groups: the experimental group and the control group. Meanwhile 15 normal infants served as the blank control. The control group was treated with routine therapies and the experimental group was treated with polysaccharide nucleic acid fraction of BCG for one year besides routine therapy. The levels of serum IL-10 and IL-12 were determined by using ELISA before and after the treatment. Also, times and duration of gasping were followed up for 2 years. ResultsThe IL-10 level was significantly higher in the experimental group than that in the blank control group, however the IL-12 level was significantly lower in the experimental group than that in the blank control group(P<0.001). After polysaccharide nucleic acid fraction of BCG treatment, the IL10 level was significantly decreased and the IL-12 level was significantly increased(P<0.01, also, the times of gasping in 2 years decreased(P<0.001) and the duration of gasping was obviously shortened. Conclusion Immunologic intervention can improve the immunologic derangement of Th1/Th2 in bronchiolitis and prevents the development of asthma.
