Abstract: To learn the status on knowledge, attitudes, practices of people with chronic metabolic disease in Jinan urbanrural binding region and provide evidence for chronic metabolic disease preventive policy and measure in these areas. Methods: In the crossover study, 394 persons in two communities of Jinan urbanrural binding region were interviewed face to face, and fasting plasma glucose and blood fat were tested uniformly. Results: About 37.0% of the subjects knew chronic metabolic disease, and 20.8% of them knew little about the disease. Of the 125 individuals previously diagnosed, 104 were taking medicine; however, only 57 participants were taking medicine according to how it was prescribed by their physicians. The main reason for not taking the medicine as recommended by the physicians was a failure to realize the imperilment of the chronic metabolic disease, accounting for 47.2%. Multivariable analysis showed that degree of education was a significant factor in the knowledge level of chronic metabolic disease. Conclusion: The residents′ knowledge about chronic metabolic disease and treatment status are unsatisfying, so it is imperative to promote chronic metabolic disease knowledge awareness through raising residents′ cultural level and to strengthen health education.
