Abstract:

Objective   To investigate the CT performance of adrenal fat-containing tumor. Methods   CT manifestations of 19 cases with adrenal fat-containing tumor confirmed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed. 19 cases were performed with CT plain scan,  including 9 cases with enhanced CT scan. Results   There were 13 cases of myelolipoma, 2 cases of lipoma, 2 cases of teratoma, 1 case of angiomyolipoma and 1 case of lipomatous ganglioneuroma. All cases appeared mixed densities of fat tissues with distinct edges. Among 13 cases of myelomas, 11 cases based on fatty components, and the myeloid components were predominant in 2 cases. There were 3 cases which showed calcification. Enhanced CT showed mild enhancement in the myeloid components of 6 cases. 2 lipoma cases showed uniform fat densities with clear borders. 2 mature teratoma cases containing multiple calcifications, soft-tissues and fat tissues, and the soft-tissue components were mildly enhanced. CT showed that parts of the solid components were markedly enhanced in the angiomyolipoma. The fatty component of the lipomatous ganglioneuroma was predominant, and the soft-tissue component was enhanced gradually. Conclusion   Different types of benign fatty tumors were noted in the adrenal gland. Their CT appearances were some features.
