Abstract:

Objective   To evaluate the application value of EuroSCORE in predicting readmission after CABG. Methods   A total of 1875 patients who underwent CABG between 2009 and 2010 were selected as subjects. The calibration and discriminate power of EuroSCORE system were evaluated. Calibration power referred to the accuracy of the system′s predictive ability, while discriminate power referred to the extent to which the system could discriminate patients with different levels of risks. The higher the discriminate power was, the more possible a system could discriminate different risk levels. According to quintile of EuroSCORE, the patients were divided into five groups. Then, the readmission rate was compared among the five groups. Results   Among the 1875 patients, the average follow up was (24.4±10.1)months. The discriminate and calibration power of EuroSCORE system were satisfactory (H-L test: P=0.37; area under ROC=0.719). After the patients were divided into five groups according to quintile of EuroSCORE, we found that higher EuroSCORE was associated with higher readmission rate (Log Rank: <0.001). Conclusion   In this series, we found that EuroSCORE can be satisfactorily used in the prediction of readmission among patients receiving CABG.
