Abstract:

Objective    To explore the protective function and mechanism of ischemia preconditioning on rat lung ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods    36 SD rats were randomly divided into the control group (Sham groups),  the ischemic reperfusion group (I/R group), and the ischemia preconditioning + ischemic reperfusion group (IP+I/R), 12 rats in each group. Lung tissue and cell apoptosis pathological changes were observed,  lung tissue moisture was measured, and  serum and lung homogenate super oxide dismutase SOD vigor and malondialdehyde (MDA) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) concentrations were determined. Results    Compared with the sham groups, the pathological changes and the number of apoptosis and water content of lung tissues in the I/R group were significantly increased (P<0.01), the serum and lung tissue SOD activity were significantly decreased, and MDA and concentration of ET -1 also were significantly increased (P<0.01). Compared with the I/R group, pathological changes and the number of apoptosis and water content of lung tissue in the IP + I/R group were significantly decreased (P<0.01), serum and lung tissue SOD activity were significantly increased, and MDA and concentration of ET -1 were significantly decreased (P<0.01). Conclusion   Ischemic preconditioning may protect ischemia-reperfusion lung injury in rats, which may be related to activation of endogenous antioxidant inactivation or reduction of oxygen free radicals.
