Abstract: To explore the relationship between serum estradiol and threatened abortion in women with pregnancy of 4 to 8 weeks. Methods259 pregnant women, who had conceived from 4 to 8 weeks were previously divided into 2 groups: 171 with normal pregnancy and 88 with threatened abortion, and then each group was divided into 5 subgroups based upon gestational age. Chemiluminescence reaction and dissociation enhanced lauthanide fluoroimmuno-assay were used to determine the serum esrtadiol levels. ResultsWith an increase of age, the level of serum E2 in women with normal pregnancy significantly increased (r=0.94, P<0.05), while, the serum E2 level in women with threatened abortion was significantly lower than that in normal pregnancy at the same gestational age. ConclusionThe serum level E2 is significantly decreased in women with threatened abortion, suggesting that serum E2 should be an important factor supporting early pregnancy.
