Abstract:

Objective〓〖WTBZ〗To explore the effects of allicin on brainstem auditory evoked potential(BAEP) in diabetes mellitus rats with homocysteine. 〖WTHZ〗Methods〓〖WTBZ〗10 of 60 male Wistar rats were randomly used as the normal control group and the rest were injected with STZ into the peritoneal. Then 40 of 50 rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: the blank control group, the model control group, the western medicine treatment group and the allicin treatment group. The last three groups were fledged with homomethionin animal feed for six weeks to make the model of diabetes mellitus with homocysteine. The allicin group was subjected to peritoneal injection with 8mg/kg allicin. The western medicine group was givenfolacin, Vit B6 and VitB 12. On the sixth weekend, the BAEP was examined and the insulin and Hcy levels were determined. [WTHZ]Results〓〖WTBZ〗The insulin and Hcy levels of the allicin treatment group were obviously lower than those of the model control group(P<0.01), and the level of Hcy was similar to those of the normal control groups(P>0.05). The peak latency(PL)of all waves in the allicin treatment group was similar to that of the normal control group, but the inter-peak latency (IPL) of the Ⅰ-Ⅲ orⅠ-Ⅴ waves was obviously shorter than that of the blank control group and the model group (P<0.05). 〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〓〖WTBZ〗Allicin is effective in restoring the injured cerebral function of diabetes mellitus rats with homocysteine.
