Abstract:

Objective   To understand the cognition of tuberculosis(TB) and its determinants among village doctors. Methods  The sample was randomly chosen by using the stratified cluster-based sampling method and the subjects were interviewed by using a self-made structured questionnaire. Results  13.3% of the village doctors had elementary knowledge of tuberculosis, but few of them knew about part of the contents of the strategy of DOTS(directly observed treatment, shortcourse). Yeas of medical work, technical title and whether or not participating in the training of TB-related knowledge were the main influencing factors. Conclusions   The cognition on tuberculosis by village doctors can not meet the requirements of tuberculosis control in China. We should strengthen professional training and arrange senior village doctors to work for TB prevention and control.
